Panorama Park holds a special place in Wheat Ridge history as the oldest park in the City’s Parks and Recreation system. Originally constructed in the early 1950s, the approximately 9.3-acre park has served as a community gathering place for generations.
Located along 35th Avenue between Fenton Street and Depew Street, Panorama Park sits on land that once reflected Wheat Ridge’s agricultural roots. Before becoming a public park, the area supported farms producing vegetables, mixed crops, fruit orchards, and flowers—part of the farming heritage that helped shape the community.
Today, Panorama Park remains one of Wheat Ridge’s most active neighborhood parks. Amenities include two softball fields with covered dugouts, open athletic turf areas, a playground, picnic shelter, restroom facility, outdoor fitness area, four tennis courts, and a basketball court.
For decades, the park has been a place where residents of all ages have gathered to play, compete, and connect. Organized little league football was played here from the 1950s through the early 2000s. Softball and baseball have remained fixtures throughout the park’s history, serving youth, adult, and senior leagues alike. Youth soccer began taking shape in the 1980s and continues today. Generations of residents have also learned and played tennis at Panorama Park.
As community recreation needs have evolved, so has the park. In 2022, an outdoor fitness area was added, creating a space for residents to stretch, build strength, and stay active outdoors.
Most recently, the park underwent significant athletic court improvements in 2024–2025. The original tennis and basketball courts were replaced with modern post-tension concrete surfaces designed for durability and long-term performance. The four new tennis courts meet USTA standards and include upgraded fencing, practice backboards, and professional-quality LED lighting. The basketball court was also rebuilt and now includes lighting to expand opportunities for recreation.
From its agricultural beginnings to its role today as a hub for sports, fitness, and community connection, Panorama Park continues to reflect both the history and future of Wheat Ridge.
