July 1: BYOB(ook) Group at Clancy’s Irish Pub: Social Issues, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. 7000 W 38th Ave. Head to Clancy’s Irish Pub where the beer is liberated and spirits are high! Read any book that falls into the monthly theme and get ready to share and receive great book recommendations! This month’s theme: Social issues such as homelessness, poverty, race relations. 

 

July 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31: Performances in Anderson Park, Morning children’s performances from 10 – 10:45 a.m. Evening performances from 6 – 8 p.m., Anderson Park, W 44th Avenue and Field Street. Enjoy free outdoor, family-friendly concerts and performances on Wednesdays all summer at Anderson Park.

July 8: Wheat Ridge City Council Meeting, 6:30 PM - 11:00 p.m., 7500 West 29th Avenue, Municipal Building. The meeting will be conducted as a virtual meeting, and in person, at 7500 West 29th Avenue, Municipal Building. Participate by attending, providing comments in advance at www.wheatridgespeaks.org or viewing the meeting live or later at www.wheatridgespeaks.org. 

 

July 9: Cooldown Running Community Group Runs, 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., beginning at Shake Shack Edgewater 5505 W 20th Ave. Each run begins at 6:30 p.m., and every participant gets a complimentary beverage afterwards at Shake Shack. 

 

July 10: Concert in the Park Series, 6 – 8 p.m., Citizens’ Park 5401 W 22nd Ave. The Edgewater Summer Concert Series is a once month city event getting the community together to enjoy local music at Citizens’ Park Pavilion. Free to attend, bring chairs and blankets.

 

July 10: Regenerate Wheat Ridge Workshop: The What’s Allowed and How’s of Wheat Ridge, Navigating ordinances can be complicated. Attend a discussion with resident experts to explore the ordinances that apply to urban small-scale producers. Gain an understanding of what they mean, how to find them, and what permits are necessary. Will cover agriculture topics that relate to Wheat Ridge, The Cottage Food Act, and Water usage.

 

July 11: 55+ Social Club, 2 – 4 p.m., Edgewater Beer Garden, 2508 Gray St. Edgewater residents 55 and older are invited to spend the second Thursday of the month with friends at the Edgewater Beer Garden. Registration is encouraged and can be completed with an Edgewater Rec Center membership.

July 13: Wheat Ridge Historical Society Membership Appreciation Day, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Wheat Ridge Historical Park, 4610 Robb St. Potluck Picnic for members, community leaders and residents. Do not miss this chance to learn about all the different clubs and organizations in our city. Learn about the Society’s volunteer options and programs, as well.  

 

July 13, 27: Community Paint Events, Clear Creek Community Makerspace, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Take part in bringing a vibrant touch to the building through a community paint by numbers mural campaign. You will have the option to paint a section of a mural that will cover a large portion of the building’s exterior. No experience necessary! Mural sections will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. 

 

July 14: Edgewater Book Club, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., Edgewater Books, free. The group will discuss “This is How You Lose the Time War” by Max Gladstone.

July 16: Mindful Walk in Nature, 9 – 10 a.m., Prospect Park, open to all ages, meet at the pavilion. Hosted by The City of Wheat Ridge and The Jefferson Center for Mental Health, led by Chelsea Vibert and Charles Floyd. Step away from the hustle of your daily life and take a mindful walk along the path at Prospect Park. We will do a full body scan, notice our surroundings, and focus on the power nature can have on the mind. 

 

July 17: Mountain View Mayor Community Office Hours, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. 5461 W. 41st Ave. Join Mayor Mitcham for Community Office Hours on the third Wednesday of every month. Come for a coffee and pastry, to hear about what’s happening at Town Hall, and to share your thoughts and ideas. Her reports to Council each month include feedback from these gatherings.

 

July 18: Wheat Ridge Book Group – The Indigo Girl by Natasha Boyd, 9:00 – 10:30 a.m., Wheat Ridge Library 5475 W. 32nd Ave. Join the Wheat Ridge Book Group on the third Thursday of the month for a discussion of “The Indigo Girl” by Natasha Boyd. 

 

July 20: TLC Clean Up Day, Applewood Baptist Church, 11200 W. 32nd Ave. 8 a.m.- to 12 p.m.  In partnership with Bin There Dump That and the Wheat Ridge Police Department, Localworks offers one Clean Up Day each month of summer, June through September. See graphic to the right for more

July 20: Mountain View Free Movie In The Park, 4176 Benton St., Movie begins at dusk (around 8 p.m.), with free trivia games starting at 7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the movie along with free popcorn and beer and wine for sale. Movie: Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
