The food scene is once again heating up in the neighborhood. Super excited that Colorado Plus has reopened after their extensive remodeling project. Love going back to the original menu with the amazing burger. I’m still iffy about the full and no service but I’ll take it. I sit at the bar anyhow. I do wish they were open more than 5 days a week. The same goes for Little Brazil with their eclectic hours. The food is fantastic and worth the time to figure out their hours. The cocktails are great and the location is perfect. Especially if you live at West 38th like my friend Taylor.
I used to joke that you never had to guess if Clancy’s was open. They are opened 7 days a week, just like Wolf and Wildflowers Wine Bar on 38th Ave. and Esters on 26th. Mestizo’s and West 29th choose the closed on Mondays formula.
But here’s a whole new reason to get excited about the food scene. A place with it’s own farm right next to Wheat Ridge’s Happiness Gardens. Where only native plants are grown. Producing traditional foods of Native Americans decent.
With a purpose to restore ancestral food ways. A tradition of growing plants that become not only our food but also our medicine. Whether you order the soup, stews or their bread, orders are placed on line at CHIL-indegenousfoods.com. Now I have to admit that it’s not the most traditional ordering system but let me assure you that my friend Shirley would never stir me wrong about anything. The food was amazing! The kind of stuff that not only tastes great but you can feel it healing your body as you eat it.
Nááts’íilid Kitchen is located at the old church now known as the Wheat Ridge Center for Music and Arts. Order by Wednesday and pick up on Friday. Check out their website, you won’t be sorry. Look for a more in depth feature about these guys very soon.
There’s been a bit movement in the asian restaurant scene in town. New China that was my favorite has been replaced by Jin Asian. I have also been approached by a place that was seemingly shut down before they could open, but it looks like there might be some life in that plan just yet. I will definitely have more news on this plan next issue.
Finally with then holidays around us, please make sure to consider your local venues for office parties. It’s exciting that Hanukkah and Christmas fall on the same day this year. In fact, I booked Wolf and Wildflower Wine Bar for my Real Estate business team holiday party. Look for those holidays lights on Main street Wheat Ridge!
