The Jefferson County Library Foundation (JCLF) announces that its fall 2026 Whale of a Used Book Sale is scheduled for October 22-25 at the Jeffco Fairgrounds. Booklovers and bargain hunters can swarm through three exhibit halls packed with gently used books, CDs, DVDs, and comic books, plus themed gift baskets, vinyl records, rare books and one-of-a-kind collectibles.
Sale prices range from $.50 to $5.50. Rare and collectible items and gift baskets are individually priced.
Fall 2026 Whale of a Used Book Sale dates and times are:
Thursday, October 22, 6 to 8 p.m. – FRIENDS ONLY Preview Night
Friday, October 23, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Early Birds! Come in one hour early (8 – 9 a.m.) for $10 per adult and shop the whole day!
Saturday, October 24, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. – Half-Price Day on purchases for educators, Friends and Jeffco Employees (with ID)
Sunday, October 25, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – Bag Day! A grocery-sized bag of books is just $12!
There is an entry fee of $5 per day for adults. Children under age 18 and SNAP recipients are free. Shoppers can sign up and pay online or pay at the door. Pre-payment can be made at www.whalesale.org.
These events, held each spring and fall, enable the Foundation to raise thousands of dollars in support of the many free programs offered by Jefferson County Public Library.
