Have you ever visited a chiropractor? I’ve been blessed to have life altering adjustments that always led to greater health thanks to trusted chiropractors.
From a knee injury in high school that turned out to be a misaligned pelvis, to an overactive immune system that just needed the nervous system regulation of regular adjustments, to strange dizziness because my top vertebrae wasn’t positioned to allow the seamless flow from my brain to my spinal cord and back, thanks to a black ice car accident in college.
I’ve been reminiscing on this a lot lately, as yet again my body has been out of alignment. Thanks to a local recommendation, I found a good one who is literally and figuratively helping me keep my head on straight, and I’m already feeling better.
One of the best ways we keep ourselves on the path to a happier life is to understand our alignment and where we’re out of it. Too bad there aren’t life chiropractors that could just do an overall x-ray or watch us walk and gently nudge us back on course.
When our daily actions, inner dialog, the people we surround ourselves with, and spoken words lead to a life we say we want, we’re aligned. What I’ve learned in my own life and that of my clients is that so often these tiny moments are tweaking us out of alignment bit by bit.
Here are some tell-tale signs it’s time to course correct:
• You find resentment is building
• You feel heavy
• You find yourself leaning on avoidance tendencies more
• You don’t feel alive in your life
• You don’t feel like your know yourself
When these feelings arise and stick around that’s when it’s time to perform a little life audit. The best way to do this is to sit quietly for 15 minutes or so, get out pen and paper, and write down all the things you say you want. Next, with kindness and grace, list out all your daily habits that don’t match what you say you want.
Some examples of this are:
• You want to be fit, but you never work out
• You want to publish a book, but you never write
• You want to buy a house in the mountains, but you go clothes shopping weekly
It’s easier to do this audit if you’ve been growing your self-awareness through therapy or coaching and have uprooted subconscious beliefs and healed any trauma that is clouding your vision.
The best news is, just like in chiropractic care, tiny tweaks can quickly bring you back on course. I’d love to support you as you find your way back to happy. With love, your resident life chiropractor nicole@eloiandstella.com.
