The City of Wheat Ridge has been awarded a $2.64 million grant through the Colorado Energy Office’s Local Implementation, Mitigation, and Policy Action (Local IMPACT) Accelerator program, bringing significant state investment to the community without increasing costs for local taxpayers.
The grant funding will help reduce costs, improve public facilities, and support a more sustainable future for residents by investing in projects that improve energy efficiency and strengthen community resilience. The Local IMPACT Accelerator provides funding to help local governments implement projects that reduce emissions, improve resilience, and advance priorities related to buildings, land use, transportation, and waste.
“Wheat Ridge is committed to making thoughtful investments that improve residents’ quality of life while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars,” said Wheat Ridge Mayor Korey Stites. “This grant allows us to make land use changes to implement recently adopted plans such as the City Plan, Housing Plan, and Sustainability plan.”
The Local IMPACT Accelerator supports local governments that are taking proactive steps to improve community resilience and advance projects that go beyond existing state requirements. The grant recognizes Wheat Ridge’s commitment to long-term planning and positions the city to continue implementing projects that make local government operations more efficient and sustainable.
