The City of Wheat Ridge is moving forward with design work for the replacement of Anderson Pool, and residents will soon have another opportunity to share their input on the project.
Anderson Pool has served the Wheat Ridge community since 1979. While improvements have been made over the years, much of the pool’s infrastructure is original and nearing the end of its useful life. A 2023 assessment identified more than $1.1 million in short-term repairs needed to maintain operations, with a permanent closure becoming necessary within the next few years. Aging plumbing, water leaks, and deteriorating infrastructure make renovation impractical, leaving replacement as the long-term solution to keeping an outdoor pool available to the community.
In 2025, The City asked residents whether they supported replacing the pool and what amenities they would like to see in a new facility. Engagement efforts included surveys, public events, school and summer camp outreach, and conversations with residents. More than 2,000 community members participated, and survey results showed strong support for the project, with 94.3% of respondents indicating they support replacing the pool.
Residents also identified amenities they would like to see in a new facility, including lap lanes, water slides, play features for different ages, zero-depth entry, and spaces for relaxing and gathering.
City staff are now working with the Farnsworth Group and Wember Inc. to develop initial design concepts based on community feedback and the needs of the facility.
Another Opportunity to Weigh In
The next round of community engagement is scheduled for late November through mid-December. Residents will be able to review the initial design concepts, compare options, and provide feedback to help guide the next phase of design.
An online survey will be available through the City’s What’s Up Wheat Ridge Anderson Pool project page from November 20 through December 13 for community review and feedback. Residents will also have two opportunities to participate in person:
• December 2 from 6 – 7:30 p.m.: Community meeting at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, 4005 Kipling St
• December 5 from 3 – 6:30 p.m.: Holiday Celebration at The Green at 38th, 7101 W 38th Ave
A second round of engagement is planned for early 2027, when residents will have another opportunity to review and provide feedback on the refined designs.
Project information, engagement results, and upcoming opportunities to participate are available at whatsupwheatridge.com/anderson-pool. Residents can also subscribe to project updates on the site to receive notifications as new information becomes available.
