How True is Your Compass?

Nicole Beaudin

When we are present, allow ourselves to tune into our bodies more subtle cues, and make space to hear and listen to our intuition we are using our inner compass to guide us on the path that makes our vision for life real.

The path is like any hike in Colorado, full of twists and turns, adventure, beautiful views, ups and downs, and strenuous and easy sections.

How do you know you’re headed in the direction of your intention? During the harder parts, is it because you took the wrong turn or is it just this path you have chosen? And even more frustrating, what happens when you realize your actions don’t always match what you say you want?

I learned something new about the handy compass a few weekends ago.

I’m going to guess many of you readers already know this, but as I was never a scout and my parents weren’t very outdoorsy, it was completely new to me.

I had no idea that compasses get out of alignment super easily!

They can be distorted by the earth’s magnetic field, metals, electronics, small magnets, rough handling, extremes in temperature, minerals, etc. If they’re not calibrated frequently, and you don’t use other tools at your disposal you can think you’re going in one direction, but not be heading that way at all.

The same is true for the compass that lives within each of us. Our compasses get distorted when we’re not aware of our inner blind spots, our subconscious beliefs, ways we try to earn our worth and love, outdated personas, denied traits, outdated energetic contracts or cords, generational trauma, conversations needed but never had, or even how the energy of those we encounter can muddy our own field.

Until we build awareness, each of these are blind spots guiding us off our true north course.

The good news is there are many ways we can calibrate ourselves, and just like the actual compass should be checked and corrected regularly, so too should ours.

My favorite ways that I practice daily are: a simple morning meditation to clear my field, writing for five minutes, nurturing my body with food I’ve prepared with fresh ingredients, and time outdoors moving my body. I know, these seem super simple, but science is proving these are the exact tools to use for daily alignment. Simple and consistent is always best.

If you feel like you are ready for deeper support and healing Somatic Therapy, EMDR, chiropractic care, acupuncture, or working with a coach are powerful aligning practices. My clients always tell me our work together re-aligns them with their true north. Curious to learn more? I’d love to support you nicole@eloiandstella.com.
