Engage Wheat Ridge: Your City, Your Voice, Your Community

Korey Stites

One of the things I love most about Wheat Ridge is that people here care.

They care about their neighborhoods. They care about local businesses. They care about parks, trails, public safety and the future of our community. Most importantly, they care enough to show up, ask questions and share ideas.

That spirit of involvement is what inspired Engage Wheat Ridge.

Throughout July, residents will have the opportunity to meet with members of city council and the mayor in parks, coffee shops, local businesses, city hall and other community gathering spaces across Wheat Ridge. Rather than asking residents to come to us at study sessions, we’re bringing the conversation into the community. Whether you have a question, concern, idea or simply want to learn more about what is happening in the city, Engage Wheat Ridge is designed to make those conversations easy and accessible.

This year, we’re hosting 19 events throughout the month. You can join a neighborhood conversation with your district council members, attend a coffee chat, participate in a community walk, join a bike tour, or stop by one of our open discussions. These are opportunities to connect and talk about the issues that matter to you.

As mayor, I often hear from residents who want to be more involved but aren’t sure where to start. The good news is there has never been a better time to engage in Wheat Ridge.

In recent years, residents have helped shape some of the most important decisions facing our community. Hundreds of community members participated in the creation of our new City Plan, helping establish a shared vision for Wheat Ridge’s future. More than 500 people participated in person and more than 1,000 pieces of feedback were collected during that process.

Residents also regularly contribute through boards and commissions, neighborhood meetings, public hearings, Wheat Ridge 101, and online engagement opportunities. These efforts help ensure that city decisions reflect the values and priorities of the people who call Wheat Ridge home.

Engage Wheat Ridge builds on that traditioBy creating another way for residents and elected officials to connect directly. It is an opportunity to learn from one another, discuss challenges, celebrate successes and strengthen the relationships that make our community special.

The future of Wheat Ridge is not shaped solely in council chambers or city offices. It is shaped by residents who choose to participate. Every conversation, every question, and every idea help us better understand the needs and priorities of our community.

I encourage you to attend an event this July. Bring a friend, bring a neighbor, and bring your questions. Whether you’ve lived here for 50 years or just moved in last month, your perspective matters.

Together, we can continue building a Wheat Ridge that reflects the values, ideas and aspirations of the people who call it home.
