Check Out Hurling, Gaelic Football On The Green

Localworks’ next exciting Live Local event is coming up on March 19 at The Green, 7101 W. 38th Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come learn more about the Denver Gaels, check out demonstrations of Gaelic football and hurling, and try your hand at a few activities yourself!

The schedule:

• 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – informational booth and batting cage to try hurling and Gaelic football

• 11 to 11:20 a.m. – football demonstration match

• 12:30 to 12:50 p.m. – youth hurling demonstration match (small sided, full rules)

The Denver Gaels GAA club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of Irish sports and culture in the Rocky Mountain region. The Gaels play hurling, camogie, and men’s and women’s Gaelic football, and youth programs for kids 4 to 14. They were founded in 1996 and take great pride in developing the games for Irish and Americans alike ever since.

The Denver Gaels are one of few clubs in the U.S. that has won a championship in each GAA code they play, including Hurling Championships in 2007 and 2021, Ladies Football in 2016, Camogie in 2011, and Men’s Football in 2000. 

Denver Gaels sports run from April to October every year. All kinds of players and members are welcomed and encouraged from highly competitive to recreational and simply social. The club partners and is sponsored by many Front Range businesses such as Talnua Distillery, Bayer Ear Clinic, The Irish Rover Pub, Manshave Barbershop and Bluegrass Arvada.
