I just finished a two month series with a client. It inspired me to share a bit of that final session here. I always feel mixed emotions when our time comes to a close. I have intense pride for them and all the shifts they’ve made in our time together, they usually even look lighter. I also get a little sad. I care very deeply for my clients and the hopes and dreams they trust me with. I also know they have more tools to fly safely out of the nest.
This particular session comes after a series that has them articulate their vision in key areas, look at subconscious beliefs that hold them back from achieving that vision, shift personas that get in the way, and improve their ability to honor their boundaries and build trust in themselves.
The lesson these lead up to is a session focused on shining their light brightly from the inside out, making themselves more visible, standing strongly and boldly in their authenticity and self-worth. Unfortunately, we often receive messages as children not to be so something, or we may have even been bullied for being better than others around us. This starts a pattern of playing small and dimming our light to make others comfortable.
We get to the trait they’ve been dimming by asking two key questions.
What in their vision don’t they have, and what trait would they need to embody to start making that vision real?
What do they admire in others that they believe they don’t have?
The foundation behind this is the idea that we cannot see in someone else what doesn’t exist in us. If you admire someone who’s really good on video, maybe it’s time to start sharing little bits of your story daily on video. Especially if it’s in service of your dream. Or if you’re jealous of that couple that feel authentically connected, maybe it’s time to hire a coach or therapist and focus back on that relationship again.
Think about those two questions listed above. What would your answers be? We have a little under 3 months left in the year. What shiny amazing trait has been hiding inside of you that you’re ready to amplify to end this year more empowered and closer to a dream? Who do you need to become to be successful here?
Maybe it’s someone who embraces discomfort weekly, asks for help more, shares their creative outlet, hires a coach because they know they’re ready to uplevel, or works with a therapist because they know the unhealed parts of them are getting in their way.
Let me know, I’d love to witness your light shine even brighter nicole@eloiandstella.com.
