It is an incredible honor to write to you for the first time as Mayor of Wheat Ridge. As someone who was born and raised here, I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me to serve this community we all love. Wheat Ridge isn’t just where I live; it’s part of who I am. My family’s roots run deep in this city, and I am proud to represent the third generation of Stites to serve in city leadership. Both my father and grandfather held the office of mayor and served on city council, and continuing their legacy of public service is one of the greatest honors of my life.
During my six years on city council, including three years as Mayor Pro Tem, I have learned firsthand what makes Wheat Ridge such a special place: our people. Together, we have faced challenges, celebrated milestones, and strengthened the sense of community that sets Wheat Ridge apart. I have seen the power of collaboration at work, how residents, businesses, and city staff come together to make a difference.
While on council, I was proud to help create the Hotel Licensing Program, which reduced crime by 26 percent around the I-70 and Kipling corridor, and to support the “Let’s Talk” neighborhood engagement initiative that gives residents a stronger voice in shaping the city’s future. These experiences have reinforced my belief that effective local government begins with listening and responding to the people it serves.
As mayor, I will continue to lead with integrity, transparency, and respect. My goal is to be a voice for all, someone who listens, collaborates, and represents every resident of Wheat Ridge. Good governance starts with open communication, and I am committed to building stronger connections between city hall and the community. You will see me at neighborhood meetings, local events, and gatherings across the city. I am eager to hear your ideas, concerns, and hopes for Wheat Ridge’s future.
Outside of public service, I am a small-business owner. Since 2009, I have operated Personal Achievement Martial Arts here in Wheat Ridge. Running a local business has taught me what it takes to build something meaningful and how vital it is to support our local economy and the people behind it. That perspective shapes how I approach city leadership and reinforces the importance of helping our small businesses thrive.
Growing up in Wheat Ridge instilled in me the values of hard work, integrity, and community spirit. As your mayor, I will focus on maintaining the character that makes our city unique while promoting smart economic development, strengthening public safety, and ensuring that Wheat Ridge remains a place where future generations can plant roots.
This article marks the first of many opportunities I will have to share updates and reflections with you through the Neighborhood Gazette. I am excited to keep the conversation going and to work together toward an even stronger Wheat Ridge.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your belief in our community. I am ready to listen, to serve, and to lead. Together, we will continue to grow in Wheat Ridge.

Explain your job: As the Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator, I plan and support the city’s community engagement efforts. This includes projects and programs where the city is seeking input from our residents or businesses. One of my recent projects was the City Plan – the blueprint for Wheat Ridge for the next 15 years. In order to get feedback from the community, we hosted in-person events, conducted online surveys, tabled at community events, and more! To learn more and provide input on future projects, check out the city’s engagement platform at whatsupwheatridge.com.
How long have you worked for the city? 5 years
Favorite pastime: Hiking and reading
Favorite sandwich: This is an impossible question because I think all food should be eaten between two slices of bread, but for today, I’ll go with the hot ham and cheese from Hickory Baked Ham.
Favorite superhero: I’d have to go with Spiderman. He’s all about his community.
If you had your own talk show, who would be your first guest?: I’d interview Jeff Probst, the host of Survivor. It’s my favorite show, and I’d have a lot of questions (and suggestions) for him.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what 3 albums would you want to have with you?: I’d bring Tapestry by Carol King, 1989 by Taylor Swift, and the Broadway cast recording of Wicked.
