One of the things I appreciate most about Wheat Ridge is that we’re a community that values connection.
Whether it’s chatting with a neighbor while walking the trail, supporting a local business, volunteering for a cause, or meeting someone new at a community event, those everyday interactions are what make this city feel like home.
This September, we have an opportunity to create even more of those moments together.
On Sunday, Sept. 27, from 12 to 2 p.m., the City of Wheat Ridge will host Wheat Ridge’s Longer Table at The Green at 38th. Imagine one long table stretching across the park, where 300 community members gather to share a meal, have meaningful conversations, and build new connections.
In a world where it’s easy to feel disconnected, sitting down together can be a powerful reminder that we have more in common than we realize. Sometimes all it takes is a conversation with someone you’ve never met to spark a new friendship, discover a shared interest, or simply gain a new perspective.
That’s exactly what Longer Table is all about.
This event is being made possible through an incredible partnership of local businesses, Localworks, faith organizations, community leaders, and dedicated volunteers who all share the belief that a stronger community begins with stronger relationships. I’m especially grateful to Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital, our title sponsor, and Esters at Gold’s Marketplace, our premier sponsor, for helping bring this vision to life.
Our event is also part of Longer Tables’ 150 Tables Across Colorado initiative, celebrating Colorado’s 150th anniversary by encouraging communities across the state to come together around a shared meal. It’s a simple idea with a lasting impact: one table, one conversation, and one new connection at a time.
