Winter Sports Underway

This month winter season sports in Wheat Ridge swing into action with Basketball, Swimming and Wrestling all underway. There is a lot to cover, however, let’s take a moment to recognize more accomplished athletes and talented competitors from this fall.

Speech and Debate: Congratulations to sophomore Maura Plavnick for her 2nd place finish in Extemporaneous Speaking in her most recent Speech and Debate competition.

Orchestra: Congratulations to senior Kate Figurski. Kate earned all-state honors in orchestra. She will be participating in the all-state orchestra performance/competition in April of 2026.

Band: Congratulations to sophomore Elliott Harris. Elliott earned all-state honors for band. He will participate/compete in all-state in February of 2026. Junior Brevyn Green was recognized as an alternate in all-state.

Football: Congratulations to the Wheat Ridge football players who earned all-conference recognition.

Well done Farmers! You add to the historic legacy that is Wheat Ridge Farmers Athletics.

And now for winter. I was lucky enough to volunteer and attend the 49th Annual Frank Palmeri Invitational, an historic Wrestling tournament hosted at Wheat Ridge HS. Our team performed well individually and as a team finished sixth out of twenty-one teams attending. Below is the schedule for Wheat Ridge Athletics in January 2026. Go Farmers!
