Randall Park is one of Wheat Ridge’s oldest and most historic parks. Constructed between 1952 and 1954, it is the second-oldest park in the City’s park system and has served generations of residents for more than 70 years.

Located near 43rd Avenue and Fenton Street, the approximately 5-acre park sits along the Wheat Ridge and Mountain View boundary. Long before it became a park, the land was part of Wheat Ridge’s agricultural community, where farms produced vegetables, orchards, flowers, celery, and other crops that helped define the area’s rural character.

Randall Park is also known for having some of the best soil in the City’s parks system. The sandy soil contains excellent organic material and is nearly rock-free, making it ideal for healthy turf and future agricultural uses.

Today, Randall Park remains a well-used neighborhood destination. The park includes a softball field with covered dugouts, a practice softball field, playground, picnic shelter, restroom building, and a multi-use court. The large open turf area on the south side of the park is also commonly used for soccer practice and informal recreation.

One of the park’s most popular features is the multi-use concrete court, installed in 2005. The court supports a variety of activities including basketball, street hockey, playground games, and recreational skating.

The park continues to evolve as the City invests in its future. Over the years, Wheat Ridge acquired two neighboring residential properties along the south edge of the park. One property has already been converted into overflow parking for athletic events. The second property is planned to become the future “Randall Park Farm,” a community gathering space that will celebrate Wheat Ridge’s agricultural roots while highlighting opportunities for urban farming and community education.

From its farming beginnings to its role today as an active neighborhood park, Randall Park reflects both the history and future of Wheat Ridge.
