Welcome to December. You made it.
This month heralds a time of looking back to look forward, as well as making wishes for gifts and hoping they get granted, and then some. As you look forward into 2026 you may also be dreaming of what you want to build, change, create, and make real.
One of the greatest paths towards our own authentic happiness – and also increasing the happiness of the world – is to take time to know what we desire and wish, without comparison to others, and to know that we are inherently worthy of our wishes being made real.
Growing up I often heard, in response to my wants, “think of all the people that go without, you are lucky you even got that.” I can still hear the condescending tone, even decades later. This statement was meant to instill empathy, which I’ve always had in spades, but what it did instead was stop me from going after. It stopped me from knowing me and taking action, as it seemed pointless.
There are many people suffering right now and there are many people going without, but what if you making your desires real could ripple something to those people? You building and curating the life of your dreams definitely does not take from others, albeit to my parents dismay. It instead has the power to give even more to others, and it definitely uplevels the frequency of the planet.
Even if your desire is to live a life, in a home, with an income that creates comfort and security for you. We are braver and bolder when our nervous systems have a safe place to retreat to. Science is proving that the simple sense of security is important for our brains, our body chemistry, and our ability to regulate.
So this December, give yourself permission to wish and dream, and do so boldly. Write it down, make a plan, take baby steps and ask for help to make it real. Be so fully present that you receive the nudges and abundant gifts of the universe.
Don’t use the excuse that because others don’t have that you must go without. That’s just a cop-out for you not needing to know yourself and to stay hiding and playing small.
Instead reframe your desires as a way to shower the world, or even just your corner of it, with so much presence and goodness.
