The City of Edgewater recently completed its 2025 Community Survey, conducted by Probolsky Research, and the results are in: Edgewater residents overwhelmingly love where they live! With 325 residents participating through phone and online responses, the survey offers a valuable snapshot of community sentiment and priorities.
Community and Services
Residents praised Edgewater for its vibrant community spirit, with building community and community events topping the list of what the city does well. Cleanliness, fun activities, and the city’s small-town feel also received high marks.
The top reasons people live in Edgewater include its location (58.5%), small-town charm (51.4%), and a strong sense of safety (48.9%). These qualities contribute to an impressive 92.9% satisfaction rate with the overall quality of life.
Edgewater’s commitment to service is evident, with 87.4% of residents satisfied with city services (like public works and utilities) and 91.1% satisfied with cleanliness. While 68.9% feel informed about major issues, and 64.9% feel welcomed to participate, we recognize that there’s room to grow in how we engage and communicate with our community. Residents are optimistic about the future, with 59.1% believing the quality of life will improve over the next five years. Encouragingly, 87.1% plan to stay in Edgewater, and 92.9% would recommend it to others.
Community Priorities
When asked what city leaders should focus on, residents were clear: public safety (56%), affordable housing (45.8%), and public infrastructure (43.7%) are top priorities. These insights will guide our planning and budgeting in the months ahead. We highly encourage the community to attend City Council meetings (the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm) to provide your feedback and ideas.
