Where Are You Spending Your Happy Hours?

Big news this week—GasTown finally got the green light to open their restaurant on 29th Ave! I’m counting down the days to try their menu, all crafted with locally sourced ingredients. Owner Fin, a proud Army veteran, even used reclaimed beams from Walt’s old garage in the build.

Fridays are getting wild with Happy Hour crowds, especially over in Edgewater. That stretch of 25th is becoming a go-to for locals. Edgewater Pizza/Lot 46 is celebrating their first anniversary—huge congrats to Niya and Grant for pushing through a tough year and coming out on top. They’re proof that perseverance pays off, even when the focus is more on survival than profit. It is seriously, best pizza around! Just a short walk away is The Electric Cure for something totally different, or keep strolling to the lively Edgewater Beer Garden.

Meanwhile, over in Wheat Ridge, businesses along Wadsworth are still fighting the good fight. Shout out to the local spots that keep pushing forward—places like Salsas Mexican Restaurant and The Sugar Cube continue to show up strong. That little coffee drive-thru is still the best way to escape the Wadsworth traffic. Don’t miss our interview with Cassie Ann, owner of The Sugar Cube, in this issue—it’s a great read.

38th Avenue in downtown Wheat Ridge is starting to buzz again. There’s a steady line forming outside GetRight’s Bakery & Plant Nursery every morning, and once you’ve grabbed a pastry, it’s too easy to slide over to Stylus & Crate next door for coffee. Yes, Apple Ridge Café is a breakfast staple, but I’m all about their lunch—specifically, liver and onions. I get it, not everyone’s thing, but it’s my absolute favorite.

That said, being on the main drag doesn’t always mean success. What’s going on with Little Brazil, Rolling Smoke, and that MoonRise Garden Bar & Food Trucks spot? It feels like they’re missing something. Meanwhile, Wolf+Wildflower Wine Bar, Clancy’s, Mestizo Brew Cantina, and Colorado Plus Brew Pub and Taphouse are steadily gaining traction. They might not be rolling in profits just yet, but they’ve got loyal crowds and solid vibes. If you’ve visited any of them lately, I’d love to hear what stood out to you.

And I’ve found my new go-to Happy Hour hangout—Wheat Ridge Lanes. Yep, the bowling alley. It’s packed! No need to bowl, just show up for the old-school bar scene that pulls in a crowd of all ages. It’s unexpectedly awesome.

Also, it’s officially patio season! Text me at 303-999-5789 and let me know which patios are crushing it and which ones could use a little love. Based on some of the voicemails I’ve been getting, I know at least a few of you are calling after Happy Hour… I can’t always understand what you’re saying, but I’m glad you had a good time!
