Wheat Ridge Fall Round Up, Accolades Abound

With the end of Fall sports and activities upon us, I spoke with Jason Campbell, Athletic Director at Wheat Ridge High School, regarding results from all our Farmer athletes, musicians and the team that keeps the dream alive, Marching Band!  The results are, as always, impressive.

Boys’ Soccer 

Finished with a ranking of 21st in the state in 4A.

Qualified for the 4A postseason for the 4th year in a row.  We lost in the first round 1-0 to Cheyenne Mountain 1-0.

The following athletes earned all-conference honors.

Senior Acen Sandler – 1st Team All-Conference

Sophomore Jonah Halsor – 1st Team All-Conference

Senior Benton Albright – 1st Team All-Conference

Senior Roan Nicholson – 2nd Team All-Conference

Senior Liam Christensen – Honorable Mention All-Conference

Sophomore Eduardo Jimenez – Honorable Mention All-Conference

Boys’ golf

Two athletes qualified for the state golf tournament:

Cross County

Girls’ Team

Girls’ team finished 5th in league standings and 3rd in Paul Davis Sportsmanship Award.

Sophomore Nytia Adams was the winner of the 4A girls’ Jeffco league championship race and earned 4A Girls’ Cross Country MVP and 1st Team All-Conference.

She also qualified for the state cross country meet and finished 27th earning honorable mention all-state.

Sophomore Erin Hartin finished fourth in the Jeffco girls’ Jeffco league championship race and earned 1st Team All-Conference.

She qualified for the state cross country meet and finished 54th.

Junior Parker Mehlem finished 22nd in the 4A girls’ Jeffco league championship race and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Boys’ Team

Finished 5th in league standings.

Senior Finn Walston finished 10th in the 4A boys’ Jeffco league championship race and earned 2nd Team All-Conference.

Sophomore Evan Clairmont finished 24th in the 4A boys’ Jeffco league championship race and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Softball

The following students earned all-conference or all-state honors:

Junior Haley Cross – 1st Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State

Senior Olivia Hoppe – 2nd Team All-Conference

Senior Evelyn Detwiler – 2nd Team All-Conference

Freshman Delaney Cornell – 2nd Team All-Conference

Senior Hailey Piel – 2nd Team All-Conference

Sophomore Ayjah Jackson – Honorable Mention All-Conference

Freshman Khloe Atencio – Honorable Mention All-Conference

Boys’ Tennis

The team finished 4th in league.

Sophomore August Mendez – 2nd Team All-Conference (Singles 2)

Junior Brendan Buckley – 2nd Team All-Conference (Singles 3)

Sophomore Rowzee Peyton and Sophomore Will Mason (Double 2) – Honorable Mention All-Conference

Girls’ Flag Football

Team just completed their inaugural season.

The following athletes earned all-conference honors:

Sophomore Clara Snavely – Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Senior Lian Carson – Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Volleyball

The team finished in 3rd place for the Paul Davis Sportsmanship Award.

Senior John Mackie, Captain of the team was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” by the entire Colorado High School Mountain Biking League.

Freshman’s Corrine Miller and Cayden Sherman both qualified for the state mountain biking championship.
