Wheat Ridge City Staff Highlight: Beth June

Highlighting the Amazing Members of the City of Wheat Ridge Staff

Name: Beth June

Explain your job: As the Event & Volunteer Coordinator for the city through the Parks & Recreation Department, I’m proud to help bring our community together through fun and engaging events. I coordinate many of our large-scale celebrations, including the Holiday Celebration, Egg Hunt, Performances in the Park, Trunk or Treat, and Movie in the Park. I also enjoy connecting residents with meaningful volunteer opportunities, from recruiting Tree Stewards in our parks and Van Drivers for the Active Adult Center to organizing Special Event Teams, National Public Lands Day projects, and the Friends of Happiness Garden group. I’m passionate about serving this incredible community and love creating opportunities for everyone to get involved, give back, and have fun.

How long have you worked for the city?  I worked for the city for 21 years as the Recreation Coordinator of Sun Camp, Preschool, enrichment programs, special events, and Therapeutic Recreation. I truly loved being involved with the children and their families, providing care, compassion, and meaningful learning experiences while working with an amazing team. When this new position was created two years ago, I was so excited for the opportunity to stay connected to the community and continue creating fun events that bring people together.

Favorite pastime: One of my favorite pastimes is treasure hunting at estate sales, thrift stores, and yard sales. I love the thrill of finding unique pieces and giving them new life—whether it’s through a little refurbishing or simply finding the perfect spot in my home. My house is starting to get a bit too full, though, so I’ve been thinking it might be time to start a side business to help my treasures find new homes. It’s such a fun and creative way to blend my love for decorating with connecting others to special, one-of-a-kind finds!  I’m also really good at facilitating yard sales and full estate sales.

Favorite sandwich: Extra toasted Caprese with extra basil and add spinach

If you had your own talk show, who would be your first guest? Michelle Obama would be such an amazing talk show guest. I’d love to sit down with her and really dive into her story—from her childhood and upbringing to what it was like being First Lady. I think it would be so meaningful to talk about motherhood, identity, leadership and how she’s grown through all of it. She’s funny, inspiring, and so passionate about things that truly matter—like education, mental health, healthy families, supporting the military, and getting people involved in their communities. I just know the conversation would be full of heart and leave everyone feeling uplifted. Also, we would play a fun game, similar to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.  I know Michelle would be down and it would be hilarious.
