The Wheat Ridge City Council announced the adoption of the City of Wheat Ridge’s 2025 budget with a unanimous 8-0 vote during their meeting on November 25, 2024. The approved budget outlines a strategic vision for delivering essential services while advancing key community priorities and maintaining fiscal responsibility.

The $95.6 million budget reflects the city council’s commitment to infrastructure, sustainability, public safety, and quality of life improvements as outlined in the city’s strategic plan. Key highlights include:

• $38 million for infrastructure improvements, funded by the continuation of the voter approved half-cent sales tax and Urban Renewal Authority Bonds. This includes streets, sidewalks, drainage, and park enhancements.

• Completion of key projects, including the Improve Wadsworth project, Clear Creek Crossing development, and The Green at 38th.

• Over $7 million for parks and recreation upgrades, including improvements to the Clear Creek Trail and local
 recreational facilities.

• $1.5 million for bicycle and pedestrian improvements along 35th Avenue.

“Adopting the 2025 budget positions Wheat Ridge for continued growth and success,” said Council Member Rachel Hultin. “I want to thank staff for putting together this budget, I’m proud of this budget because it continues to serve our community while being fiscally
 responsible.”

The budget also reinforces the City’s focus on community engagement through initiatives like the “Let’s Talk Wheat Ridge” program, which has helped foster open dialogue with residents to guide decisions. Additionally, the budget allows for rebuilding reserves while addressing critical needs like affordable housing, environmental sustainability, and public safety.

The approved 2025 budget will go into effect on January 1, 2025. For a detailed breakdown of the budget, visit the City of Wheat Ridge website at https://www.ci.wheatridge.co.us/115/City-Budget.
