For 67 years, Cub Scout Pack and Scouting Troop 240, chartered in 1957 by the Wheat Ridge Kiwanis Club, have embraced diversity to create a supportive and enriching environment.

Troop 240 includes Scouts from varied backgrounds. One Scout found guidance after a parent’s incarceration, while another discovered family support following a parent’s passing. Scouts on the autism spectrum have built social skills and confidence through Scouting. Economic differences are present, with some families affluent and others struggling, yet character is valued over wealth.

Military families, immigrants from Mexico and Paraguay, and those from blended families enrich the troop’s cultural experiences. Grandparents, single parents, and families of all shapes and sizes are represented, teaching Scouts empathy, cooperation, and acceptance. This celebrated diversity offers invaluable lessons.

Scouting in Troop 240 goes beyond merit badges and outdoor adventures. It’s about building a community where every child, regardless of circumstances, finds belonging, growth, and thriving opportunities. This inclusive spirit equips Scouts to become compassionate leaders and responsible citizens in a diverse world.

Wheat Ridge families with youth 5 to 18 are invited to join and become part of the Scouting family. For more information, please contact Scoutmaster Zach Urban at 720-252-5930.
