The Restaurant Shuffle Continues

So much has happened in the last few weeks in the local food scene. New places have popped up and a few have sadly closed down.

Wolf and Wildflower wine bar (7190 W. 38th Ave.) has new owners but have kept the same name and delicious wines flowing and they have now added coffee in the morning. The amazing Mestizos (6900 W. 38th Ave.) keeps serving up the very best street tacos in town with live music on Friday nights. It’s the perfect place for date night or happy hour.

Unfortunately, our Italian place on 38th Ave., Rossi’s, has closed its doors while Gas Bar on 29th never opened. Turned out the community spoke out against their application and their liquor permit was denied. However, driving by this location tonight I notice that the work and construction are moving forward.  Despite reaching out, we have not heard back with any updates.

Little Brazil has stopped opening every night.  I know they’ve had some management changes and have also altered their hours with some nights for delivery and pick up only. The food is delicious and the cocktails are fabulous.

It takes a village to keep our restaurants open. Make sure to visit them for dinner or just a happy hour.

The exciting news is from Colorado Plus (6995 W 38th Ave.). The owner, Eugene, has invited us to tour and take pictures of the ongoing remodel and progress. We’ll have that for the September issue. C+ and Clancy’s have been the hub for our main street on 38th Ave. for years. Jeff, the owner of Clancy’s, shares that he misses seeing the crowds going back and forth between the 2 establishments.

I love starting my day at Stylus and Crate (6985 W 38th Ave.). You never know which group will be meeting there that day. Always lively conversations. While the number of coffee shops is growing in our neighborhood, 10 to be exact, they each have taken on their own character and cater to a different crowd. What’s your favorite?

These days I’m spending a lot of time in Edgewater at the Edgewater Inn Pizza & Lot 46 (5302 W 25th Ave.) The food is fantastic and margaritas hit the spot on these hot summer days.

The Edgewater Beer Garden (2508 25th Ave.) is not to be missed. Great for crowds, kids and yes, even dogs. Of course for something “unique” you should probably visit the Electric Cure (5350 W 25th Ave.).

The National Restaurant Association estimates a 20% success rate for all restaurants. About 60% of restaurants fail in their first year of operation, and 80% fail within 5 years of opening. In the September issue of the Neighborhood Gazette we will be deep diving into the local restaurant industry. It’s incredible the energy and resources you need to start one and keep it going.
