The City of Edgewater is committed to fostering community engagement and well-being through recreational activities, recognizing the importance of making these programs accessible to all. The C.R.E.A.T.E (Connecting Residents of Edgewater with Activity, Teamwork, & Engagement) Program was established to provide financial assistance for residents and students—along with their immediate family members if they are not residents—so they can participate in recreational activities that might otherwise be beyond their financial reach.
A Program for Everyone
Recreational programs are essential for physical health, mental well-being, and community bonding, but not everyone can afford to take part. The C.R.E.A.T.E Program helps remove this financial barrier, ensuring more equitable access to fitness, sports, arts, and wellness activities. Whether it’s joining fitness classes, signing up for a youth sports league, or engaging in community workshops, the program makes it possible for residents of all ages to get involved.
Edgewater’s inclusive approach recognizes that students—and even their immediate family members—benefit from these opportunities. By expanding the program to include not only residents but also those connected to local students, the City of Edgewater builds a stronger, more connected community.
Funding Use
The program covers up to 75% of the program fees for eligible participants. However, it excludes adult sports leagues and personal training sessions. The remaining 25% of the fee must be paid by the participant before they can register for the selected activity. This cost-sharing model ensures participants have access to affordable recreation while contributing to the community’s sustainability.
