Localworks is thrilled to continue the excitement surrounding the launch of Explore44, the new corridor identity for 44th Avenue. To celebrate and engage Wheat Ridge residents and visitors, Localworks is launching the first-ever Explore44 fun run and block party.
The “Rad Retro Run: Journey Back to the 80s” will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19th, at Hopper Hollow Park (6351 W 44th Ave). This one-mile fun run invites participants to embrace the spirit of the 80s, with costumes highly encouraged. Whether you choose to walk, jog, or simply enjoy the event’s 80s theme, everyone is welcome to enjoy this untimed event at their own pace. Following the run, a free block party will begin at 9:30 a.m., featuring an 80s band, kids’ activities, a business resource fair, and local food and drink vendors.
A highlight of the event is the 80s-themed costume contest. Judges will be watching during the run, and the winner of the best costume will be announced at 10:30 a.m. during the block party, taking home a $250 cash prize. The celebration will also feature an 80s band, a business resource fair, food and drinks from local vendors, and kids’ activities, providing fun for the entire family. Attendees can also enter raffles throughout the event for a chance to win exciting prizes from businesses along the 44th Ave. corridor.
The block party is free and open to everyone—registration is only required for those participating in the fun run. Race registration is $15 for adults, $5 for children, and free for kids five and under. There is also a “Dynamic 80s Duo” rate of $25 for two adults who want to register together.
Parking for the event will be available at Newland Church of Wheat Ridge (4490 Newland St.). Pets are welcome, so feel free to bring your furry friends along for the fun.
