Two associates at the Youngfield Street King Soopers are being recognized with Kroger’s highest safety honor, the AllSafe! Angel Award, after their quick thinking and compassion helped a customer avoid what could have been a serious eye injury.
Earlier this year, a customer was fueling their vehicle when gasoline unexpectedly sprayed into their face, eyes, and clothing. Alice Carlson (right), a fuel center attendant, immediately guided the customer to the emergency eyewash station, provided a sterile eyewash kit, notified her manager, and continued assisting while keeping the fuel center operating safely.
Shortly afterward, Araceli “Ava” Chavez (left) arrived and took the extra step of driving the customer to urgent care, waiting during the visit, picking up prescribed medication, and then safely returning the customer to their vehicle.
The grateful customer later wrote a heartfelt letter praising both women, saying their actions likely prevented permanent damage to their eyesight.
Their extraordinary care and willingness to go above and beyond exemplify the spirit of community service, making Alice Carlson and Araceli “Ava” Chavez truly deserving recipients of Kroger’s prestigious AllSafe! Angel Award.
