Connecting Our Community

Our first Live Local event will be held on Feb. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. We are hosting a Community Build Evening at our makerspace located at the Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church, 7530 W. 38th Ave. At a Community Build Evening, you will have the opportunity to build a quick project, see demonstrations of the tools in the makerspace – laser cutter, 3D printers, textile projects, etc. – you can also bring a project that you are working on and work on it in the space with other makers. Plus, there will be lemonade and cookies! Right now, Localworks has about 2,500 square feet for the makerspace, so space is limited. You can get a free ticket to the Community Build Evening at https://localworks.salsalabs.org/2022communitybuildevening/index.html or by going to our website, www.wearelocalworks.org.

RidgeFest – A Wheat Ridge Maker Faire is scheduled for June 18 at The Green. A Maker Faire is a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness; as well as celebrating the Maker Movement. A Maker Faire is a place where people show what they are making and share what they are learning. Makers are people just like you! From tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers, makers are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of a Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow the maker community. We would love to have you be part of this planning effort. Please check out our website and sign-up to volunteer today!

The popular TLC Clean Up Days are being scheduled for June, July, August and September. TLC Clean Up Days provide Wheat Ridge residents with access to dumpsters for the removal of junk, debris and other waste. Localworks works closely with the Wheat Ridge Police Department to deliver this program with the goal of beautifying and connecting our community. You can check out our website – www.wearelocalworks.org – for dates and locations. If you can’t make one of the TLC Clean Up Days, you can join with your neighbors and apply for a Neighborhood Dumpster Grant. Our Neighborhood Block Party grants are also available to you and your neighbors to help in covering the costs of a block party.

Be sure to watch our calendar and website for dates for Bike to Work Day activities, cruiser rides, Movies on the Ridge, Fitness on the Ridge and more Live Local events.

As always, our community connections are what make Wheat Ridge such a special place. Localworks looks forward to connecting with you and your family!
