This summer, Localworks and Clear Creek Makerspace (CCM) invite community members to bring a vibrant touch to the CCM building exterior through a community paint-by-numbers mural campaign. CCM, located at 9110 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO, will host two community paint events on July 13th and July 27th, allowing painters to add their personal touch to designated sections of the mural.
The mural, designed by CCM staff, will be brought to life with the expert guidance of local muralist Ian Rumley. Rumley, who is leading and coordinating the paint-by-numbers event, shares his vision: “I hope this mural will bring people a sense of ownership and pride in their neighborhood as well as help the CCM grow and serve creatives in the area.” He further emphasizes the communal aspect of this project: “I was taught that the community is the main ingredient in a mural of this nature and it is my responsibility to help enrich and build that community.”
Participants simply need to show up and be ready to lend a hand. For those looking to make a more significant impact, Localworks offers several giving levels: Brush Buddy ($25), Creative Comrade ($100), and Impactful Innovator ($250). Brush Buddies can reserve their paint time, Creative Comrades can reserve their paint time and select their mural section, and Impactful Innovators receive these perks plus the opportunity to personalize their section.
Localworks aims to raise $10,000 through this project to support both the creation of the mural and five sponsored memberships for Clear Creek Makerspace. To choose a donor level or to register for the event, please visit www.wearelocalworks.org/ccmmural.
For safety reasons, community members will not be permitted to paint any part of the mural that requires a ladder. All paint and supplies will be provided by Localworks; personal paint and supplies will not be permitted. Unless painters have reserved a paint time through their donor level, painting will take place on a first-come, first-served basis.
