The City of Wheat Ridge’s Homeless Navigation Program has reached over 200 housing placements since its inception in December of 2020.
The City of Wheat Ridge Homeless Navigation Program follows the county-wide navigator model that was developed in 2020. Wheat Ridge has a Homeless Navigator and a Housing Navigator full-time on staff who help people experiencing homelessness identify solutions to complex health and housing challenges by working collaboratively with and advocating on behalf of everyone.
The navigators assist with a range of needs that can help people get housed such as connecting clients with public benefits, acquiring birth certificates and social security cards, offering stabilization support, applying for housing vouchers, helping with the housing search and security deposits, and providing move-in kits to help folks feel at home once they are finally in their new space.
“Reaching 200 housing placements is an incredible milestone for Wheat Ridge and a testament to what can be accomplished when dedicated partners work together to support our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Mayor Korey Stites. “Finding permanent or transitional housing is rarely a quick or simple process. It often takes months or even years of persistence, collaboration, and trust. This achievement reflects the hard work of our Homeless Navigation Program and the meaningful impact it continues to make in changing lives and strengthening our community.”
