Here comes fall and Localworks is ready with events and programs to connect our community and promote our local businesses!
- The Ridge at 38 Criterium Bike Race is our big news for September. The race will take place on Sunday, Sept. 12 at The Green from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and it will be fast and fun! Gather your friends and family and grab a cowbell to cheer on the racers! This year, we’ve added a number of ways that you and your family can connect with the Wheat Ridge community over the weekend:
- On Sept. 9, join Localworks for a cruiser ride to kick off the Criterium celebration. We will be meeting at The Green at 6 p.m. and will cruise Wheat Ridge neighborhoods until about 8 p.m. We’ll have stops along 38th Avenue businesses for delicious food and drink. These rides are family friendly and go at a leisurely pace so that you can enjoy the sights of our wonderful community.
- On Sept. 10, Movies on the Ridge will continue at The Green. Presented by the Wheat Ridge Active Transportation Advisory Team and Localworks, we are showing “American Flyers,” which is a fun bike-racing movie based on the Colorado Classic, and filmed largely in Colorado. Personal Achievement Martial Arts will be providing demonstrations and a free class before the movie. Polka Folka, a local band, will be there adding to the fun.
- On Sept. 11, join Spenga Wheat Ridge at The Green at 8 a.m. for “Ride, Rep, and Revive,” a HIIT workout featuring a bike ride, strength-based workout and yoga.
- As we head into fall, our last TLC Clean Up Day will take place on Saturday, Sept. 18, at Saint James Episcopal Church, located at 8235 W. 44th Ave. This is a terrific opportunity to beautify our community and get rid of trash, unwanted items and yard waste. The Clean Up Day starts at 8 a.m. and goes until noon or until dumpsters fill.
You can still get your neighbors together for a block party and/or a neighborhood dumpster grant. These programs provide an awesome way for you to connect with your neighbors, enjoy some snacks, and beautify your neighborhood. Finally, watch for more information on Trunk or Treat. This beloved community event is moving back to 38th Avenue. We will be hosting activities on The Green and trick or treating will take place along 38th Avenue with safety and fun as top priorities.
