Localworks, in partnership with the Wheat Ridge Police Department, will host four TLC Clean-up Days in 2026, offering Wheat Ridge residents an opportunity to dispose of unwanted items responsibly and keep their neighborhoods clean. Adeline Mann, Localworks Program manager, states, “TLC Clean-up Days bring the Wheat Ridge community together around a common goal: keeping our city safe and clean. For many residents, the opportunity to affordably dispose of bulky items and things their regular trash service won’t accept is a game changer.”
The events will take place on the following Saturdays:
• June 20 at Wheat Ridge United Methodist Church, 7530 W. 38th Ave.
• July 18 at Newland Church, 4490 Newland St.
• Aug. 15 at Wheat Ridge Congregational Church, 6310 W. 29th Ave.
• Sept. 19 at Applewood Baptist Church, 11200 W. 32nd Ave.
TLC Clean-up Days begin at 8 a.m. and conclude once dumpsters are full, typically by 11 a.m.
The events are free to attend, with a suggested $10 donation. The program is open to Wheat Ridge residents only; attendees should be prepared to show identification or a recent water bill as proof of residency.
To reduce traffic impacts on surrounding neighborhoods, Localworks and WRPD have adjusted the start time. The line will open at 7:45 a.m., and residents are asked not to arrive earlier to help maintain safe and efficient traffic flow.
Participants are encouraged to pre-sort materials and break down large items, including furniture, to help streamline the unloading process and increase dumpster capacity. Three primary dumpster categories will be available:
• Yard waste: Loose leaves (bags must be emptied onsite), yard clippings, tree branches up to 4 inches in diameter, and scrap wood free of nails or metal.
• Recycling: Clean plastic, glass and cardboard free of food residue; items that are at least 50% metal; scrap metal; aluminum cans; and empty aerosol cans.
• General waste: Non-recyclable materials, including furniture, household trash and other miscellaneous items.
Specialty dumpsters will also be available for mattresses, tires and paint.
Certain items will not be accepted, including concrete, dirt, rocks, brick, commercial or large-scale construction materials, electronics, televisions, batteries, appliances containing Freon, appliances without removable batteries, hazardous materials, motor oil, propane tanks, gasoline, pressurized containers, adhesives, ammunition and medical waste. Tree branches larger than 4 inches in diameter are also prohibited.
