Clear Creek Makerspace Celebrates Two Years with Community Open House

Clear Creek Makerspace is turning two, and we are celebrating the best way we know how: by opening our doors to the whole community! On Wednesday, April 1, at 6 p.m., we will host our Terrible Twos Birthday Bash, a free, come-as-you-are gathering for makers, neighbors and anyone curious about what happens inside our workshop walls. The evening will include food and drinks from local partners, tours of the space, hands-on activities and time to connect with the people who make this creative community what it is. Whether you are a longtime member or just stopping by to see what we are all about, this celebration is meant for you. The event will be held at Clear Creek Makerspace, 9110 W. 44th Ave., Wheat Ridge.

This anniversary marks an important milestone. Over the past two years, Clear Creek Makerspace has grown from an idea into a thriving creative hub. We now have nearly 300 active members, have hosted more than 1,200 workshops and events, trained more than 3,400 makers, and recorded more than 51,000 visits through our doors. Every one of those numbers represents someone learning a new skill, building something meaningful or connecting with others through shared creativity.

This birthday celebration is also a chance to reflect, 2025 gave us especially strong reasons to celebrate. As our first full year of operation, it brought a remarkable surge in activity, with engagement increasing by roughly 250 percent across nearly every measure. Membership grew quickly, classes filled up and the building became more active than ever. We expanded our team with the addition of Assistant Manager Jenny McManus and nearly doubled our volunteer base, strengthening the community support that keeps the space running.

We also expanded what members can create. Grants and volunteer efforts helped bring in new equipment across the shops, including advanced 3D printers and scanners, woodworking tools, sewing and leatherworking equipment, and new metalworking capabilities. These additions have made it easier for hobbyists, artists and entrepreneurs alike to turn ideas into finished projects.

In April 2025, Clear Creek Makerspace was honored with the Arts and Business Partnership Award from the Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, a statewide recognition of organizations that meaningfully support creative work. The award reflects what we see every day: when people have access to shared tools and space, ideas grow into real projects and creative collaborations take shape.

We are proud of what the Makerspace has become in just two years and about what comes next. Most of all, we are grateful for the community that made it possible. If you have ever wondered what happens inside Clear Creek Makerspace, our birthday celebration is the perfect time to find out. Come celebrate with us and be part of the next chapter!
