Over the past ten years as a member of the Wheat Ridge City Council, I have dedicated myself to crafting forward-thinking policies for Wheat Ridge’s long-term prosperity. I believe job creation, economic vitality, and a vibrant community flourish together when policies are developed with vision, collaboration, and a commitment to balancing diverse priorities.
One of my proudest achievements is The Green at 38th. Advocating for this project, I facilitated a successful land swap between the City and the school district, securing this site for the community. The Green at 38th will serve as a dynamic gathering space and catalyst for economic growth.
I have consistently championed balanced policy solutions, including the implementation of Wheat Ridge’s short-term rental regulations. These policies safeguard housing availability for long-term rentals and homeownership while still welcoming tourism that energizes local businesses. In addition, I played a key role in advancing the Affordable Housing Strategy and Action Plan, ensuring that employees in Wheat Ridge have access to quality housing close to their workplaces.
Serving on the Renewal Wheat Ridge Urban Renewal Authority, I’ve worked to attract investment and promote sustainable development. My efforts contributed to new Urban Renewal Areas at Lutheran and Clearvale, paving the way for redevelopment projects that will generate jobs and strengthen our local economy’s resilience.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led the effort launch of Wheat Ridge’s Business Grant Program, ensuring rapid distribution of CARES Act funds to local businesses. I advocated for expanded eligibility, so more service providers and entrepreneurs could benefit, helping preserve jobs. Recognizing the acute need for mental health support in the wake of the pandemic, I partnered with organizations such as the Applewood Community Foundation, Lutheran Hospital and the City, working with Wheat Ridge High School to secure funding for an onsite Mental Health Counselor. These services have been vital for our young people as they navigate post-pandemic challenges.
While these accomplishments stand out among many, what I value most is the opportunity I’ve had to collaborate with residents, business leaders, and local organizations. Working together with so many engaged and passionate individuals has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my service. Your willingness to share ideas, offer feedback, and devote your time has been instrumental in shaping Wheat Ridge into one of Colorado’s most dynamic communities. I am profoundly grateful to everyone who has partnered with me along the way—your commitment and involvement have been crucial to our collective progress. Together, we have built a strong foundation for Wheat Ridge’s continued growth and future success.
As I conclude my time on the Wheat Ridge City Council, I want to express heartfelt gratitude for your trust and support. It has been an honor to serve this wonderful community and work alongside so many dedicated people. Though I am stepping away from this role, I will always remain invested in Wheat Ridge’s future. Thank you for allowing me to be part of our city’s journey. I look forward to seeing all the great things ahead.
