Kristi Davis is a fifth-generation native of Wheat Ridge, having served the community in many capacities including two terms on the Wheat Ridge City Council. She follows a long family line of public servants who have dedicated their time, talents and treasures to our community.
The Davis family is certainly no strangers to Wheat Ridge. As one of the founding families, their legacy intertwines with Wheat Ridge’s rich history, including our deep agricultural roots. The Davis family carnation-growing business helped Wheat Ridge earn its nickname, “Carnation Capital of the World.” It also inspired the annual Carnation Festival, which will celebrate 54 years since the city’s incorporation this August. Kristi’s parents, Barb and Kent Davis, have been honored as royalty in past Carnation Festival parades for their significant contributions to the community.
The Davis family has always been devoted to Wheat Ridge, and Kristi is no exception. Beyond her work on council, Kristi has given significant time to community efforts by serving on the Urban Renewal Authority, water board, and fundraising for Wilmore Davis Elementary School, which holds her namesake because the donated land to build a neighborhood school at a time when the community was growing, and the block was filled with children. A block that Kristi has lived on all her life, settling as an adult one street away from where she grew up. She has enjoyed throwing a neighborhood block party every year for the last 17 years.
Having lived a stone’s throw away from Lutheran Medical Center her entire life, the hospital has been a daily fixture for Kristi. She remembers eating lunch at the famous Blue House, an original structure on the campus, and walking her beloved dogs through the grounds over the years. Kristi has also worked for SCL Health, now Intermountain Health, for 16 years, and was recently named Assistant Vice President of Medical Staff Services – Credentialing.
Kristi’s involvement and leadership in Wheat Ridge and with Intermountain naturally led her to join the Lutheran Foundation Board. To honor the Davis family legacy and to ensure that Lutheran’s legacy of providing excellent care to the Wheat Ridge community continues for generations to come, Kristi also donated a substantial gift through a 5-year pledged donation and a bequest in her will. The Foundation will match her contribution, and the outside garden and dining area at the new Lutheran will be named for the Kent and Barbara Davis family.
When asked why she chose to give to the Lutheran Foundation, Kristi said: “I have seen every day how the organization supports their employees and the communities they serve. It is an exciting time for Lutheran with the new hospital while sadly closing a chapter on a campus that has been a staple in the Wheat Ridge community. As a board member, I would like to be involved and support the efforts, volunteering my time and sharing the work of the Foundation with others.”
