Walk into Little Brazil and one thing immediately stands out: optimism.
Located at 7333 W. 38th Ave., owner Kellen Marques greets guests with the same enthusiasm she had on opening day. The difference today is experience. After navigating the challenges of restaurant ownership, she’s emerged wiser, more confident, and determined to trust her instincts.
Kellen admits there was a time when she followed the advice of “experts,” even when her gut told her otherwise. It was a difficult lesson, but one that helped reshape both her business and her outlook. Today, she’s charting her own course.
Her definition of success is refreshingly simple: full tables, generous portions, fair prices, and customers who leave happy.
Nearly half of Little Brazil’s guests come from outside Wheat Ridge, a testament to both the loyal Brazilian community and the restaurant’s growing reputation. At the same time, she’s seeing more neighborhood residents discovering the restaurant. Foot traffic is increasing, neighboring businesses regularly order lunch, and more groups are reserving the space for celebrations, meetings, and family gatherings.
The menu offers authentic Brazilian favorites alongside vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, making it easy for everyone to find something they’ll enjoy. Soccer fans have also made Little Brazil a destination, with giant screens broadcasting matches that transform the restaurant into a lively community gathering place.
Like many businesses along Wadsworth Boulevard, Little Brazil endured the five-year Wadsworth construction project that challenged merchants with detours, dust, and reduced traffic. Kellen hopes those days are finally behind her. She’s optimistic that events like RidgeFest on the Green, combined with completed roadwork, will continue bringing customers back to the corridor.
She also credits the City’s support and believes the partnership between local government, businesses, and residents is helping create a stronger Wadsworth.
The slate has been wiped clean, and the future looks bright. Judging by the busy dining room, the welcoming atmosphere, and the aroma coming from the kitchen, Little Brazil is headed exactly where Kellen always believed it could go.
And after one visit, you’ll probably understand why it’s earned a spot on my Friday Happy Hour list—and why it just might earn one on yours as well.
