Tea Party and Historical Fashion Show
The first Second Saturday Social of 2025 is the much-loved Tea Party and Historical Fashion Show at the Baugh House (44th Ave. and Robb St.), scheduled for January 11 from 10:00 to 2:00. Area historical fashion mavens from the “Days Gone By” group and others will gather with their bustles and over-sized hats to delight and inform guests as they glide about answering questions modern folk have, like “Why bustles?” and “Why are bowler hats round on top?” and “Are you aware there’s a bird’s nest in your hat?”
Along with the show, WRHS board member Bonnie Botham will welcome guests to a Tea Party replete with exotic teas and delicate tea sandwiches, cookies, biscuits, chocolates and other delights. The fee for feasting while watching the show this year is a mere $10. Donations will go to the Old Post Office Mural Project scheduled for completion in May.
Regretfully, though it was lovely to have the Historical Park museums open on Saturdays (as well as the standard Fridays) during the 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2024, foot traffic was too low to sustain another year, and the WRHS board recently voted to staff only Friday openings in 2025. All museums in the Historical Park at 4610 Robb St. will be open for tours every Friday from 10:00 to 3:00; $5 donation for adults, $2 for children.
