Families can donate colorfully wrapped shoebox gifts to be sent to children around the world now through Nov. 19, when Operation Christmas Child's National Collection Week concludes.
Locally, donations can be made at Crossroads Church, 9901 W. 50th Ave., Wheat Ridge, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Saturday, Nov. 18, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19.
The Samaritan’s Purse project collects shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items, which are delivered to children affected by war, disease, disaster, poverty and famine.
Participants can donate $9 per shoebox gift online through "Follow Your Box" and receive a tracking label to discover its destination. Those who prefer the convenience of online shopping can browse specific age and gender, then finish packing the virtual shoebox by adding a photo and personal note of encouragement.
